Callicoma (2021)

Pinhole exposures on Ilford MGRC glossy paper (digitally converted to positives)

Each photograph measures 8.9cm x 7cm (total of eight photographs)

Callicoma is a photography series exhibiting the purest form of photography and how it is used to capture and simplify magnificent forms along the Callicoma Trail. A handmade pinhole camera was used in conjunction with caffenol and salt fixer, providing an alternative ecofriendly development process to support both the experimental and environmental themes of this series. By neglecting contemporary ideologies of photographic technologies endorsing frequent manipulation along with humanity’s disregard for the natural world, Callicoma appreciates the unpredictability of pinhole photography in capturing the textures and shapes of native Australian bushland.
